Challenge 3 - Coding a Game in Scratch 3.0 - scratch.mit.edu - Stop at the walls - Scratch 3.0
These videos are designed to be used with your students so they can work their way visually through building an educational game. There is no sound needed for students to work their way through, they just need to use the pause button, do, then play again. Perfect for a classroom environment where headphones may not be available.
The premise behind this is so that teachers can use this for any type of project. The project in the videos is based on the Poles, however, this can be changed to anything. Students build a game in Scratch to teach others about the subject they are studying. Therefore this is completely transferrable to any type of topic. Examples are :
Build a game that teaches others a Maths concept.
Build a game that teaches others a Historical era.
Build a game that teaches others how to use punctuation.
The list goes on. This project was run with Year 3 students, but I have run this with Year 2 students as well as variations with Year 4, 5 & 6 students. There are many ways that the game can change to be differentiated. For example, add a second level. Or make the facts and questions other screens rather than speech bubbles. You can try out some of these ideas using the other Scratch videos I have recorded.
